Agile and Informed Decision-Making
Agile and Informed Decision-Making
From lack of flexibility in decision making to powering innovation through informed and agile decision-making
At EiA, we are reshaping the landscape of agronomy research and development, transitioning from a historical lack of flexibility in decision-making to a future powered by innovation through informed and agile processes. Traditionally, agronomy R&D invested in lengthy development cycles without sufficient consideration of scaling potential or alignment with smallholder farmer production conditions. Recognizing the need for agile decision-making, EiA is poised to revolutionize the approach. We will operationalize a dynamic Use Case and strategic R&D pipeline, guiding solutions through prioritization, development, validation, and scaling. Our process is underpinned by clear go/no-go/modify decision-making protocols, supported by rigorous assessments of agronomic gain. In the existing agronomy landscape, research activities persist even when it becomes apparent that specific solutions face limitations in uptake and impact-dashboard. EiA’s commitment to agile decision-making processes ensures that timely feedback on the performance and acceptability of agronomic solutions is seamlessly integrated into decision-making. This adaptability allows us to make informed choices on future investments, whether it involves adapting, validating, or scaling solutions, or discontinuing activities when necessary—especially within the realm of EiA’s Use Cases and strategic R&D projects. Our proactive stance extends to the operationalization of a streamlined decision-making process, where Use Cases and strategic R&D projects progress through a responsive pipeline. Informed by global or regional opportunities and needs from EiA functions, this process is supported by a due diligence framework to ensure optimal operationalization. Throughout the implementation phase, EiA embraces timely progress assessments, which serve as the driving force behind decisions related to re-direction, hand- over, or discontinuation of specific activities, particularly within the context of EiA’s Use Cases and strategic R&D projects. At EiA, our commitment to innovation through informed and agile decision-making is more than a transformation—it is a revolution that ensures our initiatives are dynamic, responsive, and continuously optimized to meet the evolving needs of agronomy research and development.
